Soybean Comment

Soybeans ended the day mixed with nearby contracts on the plus side. March did indeed test the downside objective of the January low of $12.62 ½, but support there held for the time being. May now has support at $12.47 ½. The market continues to be focused on supply, watching the weather and crop prospects in South America and speculating about U.S. acreage.

Wheat Comment

Wheat price continue to slide, as export inspections continue to disappoint traders. Large global supplies and weak demand for U.S. wheat continue to pressure prices. Look for wheat to move lower this week and set new contract lows. With little support and continued weakening of the basis remaining wheat sales should be made soon.

Corn Comment

Corn prices rose again today as export inspections were at the high end of trade expectations. Corn prices continue to be unable to break resistance at $4.35. The market continues to see good demand, and with the current weather in the Midwest, basis levels remain good. Look for prices to stay in this trading range between $4.25 and $4.35 for the near term. If prices close above $4.35, they could potentially make a move towards the next resistance level at $4.50. New crop corn continues to strengthen, while beans decline making the current ratio 1-2.435 which is down from 2.5 last week.

Cotton Comment

Cotton prices saw sharp declines today. After seeing prices run up to more than 87-cents last week prices fell more than 2-cents today. Look for nearby prices to retrace gains to at least 82.81-cents and December move close to 76-cents. With Uncertainty over China and large global supplies the December contract may have already put in its high.

Rice Comment

Rice was mostly higher but continues to trade in a narrow range. While U.S. demand for rice remains good, large global supplies and increased export competition are limiting U.S. export opportunities. With news that the Thailand government is selling rice at a loss, look for U.S. exports to remain suppressed. Resistance for March is $15.74. Support begins at $15.36.

Cattle Comment

Cattle prices ended the day mostly lower. Tight supplies combined with record boxed beef prices continue to support prices, as has recent weakness in corn prices. Nearby futures are extremely overbought at this point. February seems to have run into resistance at $144.55 for now, and that could signal that a correction is near.
