Soybean Comment

Soybeans closed well off daily highs to post modest gains on the day. The soybean market continues to be pressured by expectations of a big crop. The soybean market remains inverted as the market continues to expect a big South American crop. Soybeans continue to have support at $12.68, if harvest continues to look this good in the weeks ahead expect prices to move lower and test the next support level at $12.50. With new crop soybean bids between $13.34 and $12.68 now continues to be good opportunity to market your remaining soybeans. With the lack of carry in this market, beans held till January – March time period could likely cost producers several cents per bushel.

Wheat Comment

Wheat prices closed lower again today. A lack of fresh fundamental export news has pressured wheat prices lower. This combined with gains over the last few weeks has mover this market into overbought territory, meaning the market will likely continue a correction, at least until fresh fundamental news arises.

Corn Comment

Corn prices continued to fall today. December corn remains just above support at $4.35, a close below could very likely signal the market is headed to new contract lows between $4.00 and $4.25. Corn prices continue find some support in rumors that China is buying U.S. corn. These remain rumors as the shutdown has led to the cancelation of USDA export reports. The corn market remains cautious as there could likely be a number of curveballs once reports begin to flow again. Depending on the level of risk you wish to assume, now would likely be a good time to price more of the corn you need to price before the end of the year.

Memphis, TN Cotton and Tobacco Programs

Cotton Comment

Cotton prices closed mixed today, as nearby cotton closed lower and other contracts closed up modestly. Cotton prices continue to trade near the bottom of the trading range and close to the longtime price floor at 82-cents. The new fed chairman nominee will likely help support cotton prices as she is likely to continue a similar monetary policy that will continue to keep U.S. dollar weak thus improving our export potential.

Rice Comment

Rice prices closed higher again today. News of new exports remains supportive for prices. Rice continues have support at $14.63 and $14.50. Psychological resistance will be seen at $15 on a rebound. Harvest pressure and a large stockpile of rice in Asia continues to loom over the market.
