Corn Comment

December corn fell to new three year lows today. The market is now looking at support between $4.25 and $4.00. Corn prices continue find some support in rumors that China is buying U.S. corn. These remain rumors as the shutdown has led to the cancellation of USDA export reports. The corn market remains cautious as there could likely be a number of curveballs once reports begin to flow again. Depending on the level of risk you wish to assume, now would likely be a good time to price more of the corn you need to price before the end of the year.

Memphis, TN Cotton and Tobacco Programs

Cotton Comment

Cotton prices were higher across the board, but gains were modest. Cotton prices continue to trade near the bottom of the trading range and close to the longtime price floor at 82-cents. The new fed chairman nominee will likely help support cotton prices as she is likely to continue a similar monetary policy that will continue to keep U.S. dollar weak thus improving our export potential.

Rice Comment

November rice traded in a relatively narrow range inside yesterday’s range before closing lower. News of new exports remains supportive for prices. Rice continues have support at $14.63 and $14.50. Psychological resistance will be seen at $15 on a rebound. Harvest pressure and a large stockpile of rice in Asia continue to loom over the market.

Cattle Comment

Cattle prices continue to climb today. Corn set a new three year low, and that started a sharp rally in feeders. Tight feeder supplies were also supportive.
