An annual award is given in honor of the late Arkansas farm
broadcaster Marvin Vines to a student majoring in Radio-TV at ASU.
Vines, farm broadcaster with radio station KAAY in Little Rock was well
known throughout the state and elsewhere because of the 50,000 watts of
power that enabled his farm reports to be heard in many areas outside
the state. Vines traveled extensively throughout Arkansas to report on
agriculture events and issues. He was always interested in and
supportive of the rural youth of the state especially FFA and 4-H
