Energy Programs
In 2010, Arkansas Farm Bureau began actively promoting energy
efficiency grants to our members. The most popular program was REAP,
where through a number of producer meetings Farm Bureau members
received $600,000 in grant funds.
In addition to REAP, there are a number of other energy programs
administered by the Department of Energy, Agriculture, and the state of
Arkansas. By stacking eligible programs producers may be able to cost
share 80 percent or more of a project.
Farm Bureau is currently working with Bruce Everly, a grant writer
from Indianapolis who specializes in Energy efficiency grants. Bruce’s
company, Energy Improvement Matters, strives to be the low cost audit
and grant provider. EIM charges $500 for the energy audit and grant writing services, plus 1 percent of the project if and only if you win the grant. More than 85 percent of EIM customers are awarded grants. For more information contact EIM at 317-228-0134.
Rural Energy for America Program (REAP)
REAP provides a 25 percent cost share for implementing energy efficient or renewable energy projects on a farm.
