Agriculture Hall of Fame seeks nominations

10/12/2010 at 12:00 a.m.

LITTLE ROCK — Nominations are being accepted for the Arkansas Agriculture Hall of Fame.

“It’s our intention to seek out and honor those individuals who have made a profound impact on Arkansas agriculture, and each year, we solicit the assistance of Arkansas residents to help us do that,” says Cal McCastlain, chairman of the Arkansas Agriculture Hall of Fame.

The Arkansas Agriculture Hall of Fame was created 23 years ago to recognize Arkansans who are, or have been, pioneers in the farm industry. Additionally, it spotlights inductees’ significant contributions to the state’s community and economic development.

A total of 115 men and women have been previously inducted into the Arkansas Agriculture of Fame.

Arkansas Farm Bureau and the Arkansas State Chamber of Commerce sponsor the Arkansas Agriculture Hall of Fame, which is located at the Farm Bureau Center in Little Rock.

“We will accept nominations from anyone,” McCastlain says. “Certainly, we seek to honor those worthy individuals who have played meaningful roles in advancing Arkansas agriculture and who have contributed to improving the quality of life for rural Arkansans.

“Agriculture is our state’s No. 1 industry, and paying tribute to those who have dedicated their lives to this cause is worthwhile.”

The nomination deadline is Nov. 12. Additional information and nomination forms are available from Gary Keathley 501-228-1298 or at

Arkansas Farm Bureau is a nonprofit, private advocacy organization of more than 220,000 families throughout the state working to improve farm and rural life.
