Letter to Gov. Asa Hutchinson on Ag as Essential Infrastructure

A copy of the letter to Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson from Ag industry groups, asking him to safeguard Arkansas and decrease the impact of COVID-19 by taking measures to recognize the vital role our industries play in the safety and well-being of all Arkansans. Each sector of Arkansas’ agriculture community is critically important to the food supply chain and should be classified as “essential infrastructure” in the event of any potential lockdown scenario that may occur in the state.

Rice is Nice Youth Cooking Contest

Arkansas Farm Bureau is proud to announce the new Rice is Nice Youth Cooking Contest. Arkansas produces just under 50% of the nation’s rice each year, and this contest is designed to introduce budding chefs to rice as a crop and as a versatile diet staple. Students aged 9-18 or in the 4th through 12th grades as of January 1, 2020, and living in Arkansas may enter. Home-schooled students are welcome to enter. Contestants will compete in one of two categories: Main Dish and Party Ideas.

The 63rd Annual Arkansas Dairy Foods Contest will be June 4, 2020 in Little Rock. This annual event is sponsored during June Dairy Month by Arkansas Farm Bureau and the Arkansas Dairy Cooperative Association. This book contains the entry form, contest rules, judging criteria and more.

The Arkansas Ag in the Classroom Teacher Award recognizes an outstanding teacher in Arkansas that incorporates agricultural themes into non-agricultural curricula. If you know teachers who use Ag in the Classroom, please encourage them to apply for the award. Teachers can be self-nominated, nominated by fellow teachers, principals or superintendents, or nominated by a county Farm Bureau leader.
